I serve as Dean of the Graduate College and Associate Vice President for Research at Montana State University (MSU). In this role, I help graduate students apply their advanced skills and knowledge to projects on equity and inclusion, engagement with the community, or to advance our society’s well-being, especially as we emerge from the covid-19 pandemic. I currently serve as PI of an NSF RAPID grant gathering information on how graduate students were impacted by the pandemic. There will be long-term impacts of the collective trauma our students and community have experienced. I also serve as PI on a ten-university NSF AGEP grant (CIRTL AGEP) that is implementing workshops in graduate programs across each university to improve the climate within research groups and PI of a NSF INCLUDES grant (Aspire) to prepare graduate students to teach at community colleges.
