For the past 12 years, the resources developed by USA-NPN have impacted both the scientific community and the general public. Nature’s Notebook is used by professors and instructors from over 100 institutes of higher education and K-12 teachers to engage learners in the exploration of phenology and its relationship with climate change. As a result, hundreds of local or regional phenology monitoring groups have been established and have contributed to a highly consequential citizen science project. In addition, their consistent appearances in public media describing phenology and the impact on things like gardening and allergies support an increase in public science literacy.
