Known as the “virus hunter,” Ken Stedman is a Professor of Biology at Portland State University and world-renowned leader in the biology of thermophilic viruses. He has led discoveries and innovations that have resulted in the development of novel, patented technologies to address pressing public health problems for under resourced communities. Given this body of work, Stedman has drawn a wide and diverse audience into discovery, both in and outside of the institution.
During the pandemic, Dr. Stedman has had more than 100 news appearances, including The New York Times and National Public Radio. His expertise in virology and vaccine stabilization, combined with his skill at effectively communicating sometimes complex scientific principles to a broad audience, make him a sought-after news source.
