Nicole L. Fahrenfeld, PhD is a Professor of Civil & Environmental Engineering at Rutgers and serves as one of the Undergraduate Directors for the Environmental Engineering degree program. She earned her BS in Environmental Engineering from Johns Hopkins, MS in Environmental Engineering & Science from Clemson, and PhD in Civil Engineering from Virginia Tech.
Her lab at Rutgers focuses on applied environmental organic chemistry and microbiology for natural, engineered, and agricultural water systems. Recent projects include microbial source tracking, control of hydrogen sulfide in sewers, wastewater-based epidemiology, and plastic pollution.
