Dr. Casey Canfield is an Associate Professor in Engineering Management & Systems Engineering at the Missouri University of Science & Technology. She focuses on quantifying the human part of complex systems to improve decision-making in the context of human-machine teams (e.g., artificial intelligence in transplant healthcare) and infrastructure transitions (e.g., renewable energy, rural broadband). Her research has been funded by the National Science Foundation, Alfred P. Sloan Foundation, The Solar Foundation, US Ignite, and Mid-America Transplant Foundation.

Her research has been published in PNAS, Artificial Intelligence in Medicine, Renewable Energy, Government Information Quarterly, and Human Factors. She is the past chair of the Public Interest Technology University Network’s Midwest Regional Hub. She has also served on the advisory board of the Missouri Science & Technology (MOST) Policy Fellowship and the Missouri Energy Initiative.
