Dr. Melissa Libertus is a Professor in the Department of Psychology and a Research Scientist at the Learning Research and Development Center at the University of Pittsburgh. Her research focuses on the behavioral and neural bases of mathematical cognition and the development of these skills from infancy through middle childhood.

She also investigates the role of parents and the home learning environment in children’s acquisition of math skills. Her research has been funded by the National Institutes of Health, the National Science Foundation, and the James S. McDonnell Foundation. She has received several honors, including the Developmental Science Early Career Research Prize, the Mind, Brain, and Education Society Early Career Award, and the Rising Star Award from the Association for Psychological Science.
