Jory Weintraub

North Carolina State University

Jory Weintraub is the Director of Science Engagement at North Carolina State University, and an adjunct faculty member at Duke University. Previously, he was a faculty member and Science Communication Director with the Duke University Initiative for Science & Society, and prior to that he served as Director of Education & Outreach for the NSF-funded National Evolutionary Synthesis Center. Jory served on the ARIS Leadership Team and ARIS Training Team from 2018-2023, and prior to that, he was a member of the NABI Steering Committee.

Jory has a BS in Biochemistry/Cell Biology from UC San Diego and a PhD in Immunology from UNC Chapel Hill, and received an NSF postdoctoral fellowship in STEM Education & Outreach. He serves on the Advisory Board of the Triangle Center for Evolutionary Medicine (TriCEM), and previously served on the Board of Directors of Science Communicators of North Carolina (SCONC), the Editorial Board for the journal Evolution: Education and Outreach, and on the Education Committee of the Society for the Study of Evolution. His professional interests include broader impacts of research, science communication, STEM outreach/education and STEM diversity/equity/inclusion.
